STORM
WINDOWS
The Replacement Window
Alternative
Still a Wise Choice
Have lots of windows in your home? Are your inside
windows in good shape, but leak too much cold air? Selling
your home soon? Have so many windows that the cost to
replace your windows is more than you want to spend?
DuHadway can help with Trapp Snowbird Storm Windows – a
money saving and energy conserving alternative to
replacement windows.
New Design
Trapp’s third generation storm window reduces air
infiltration by 67% over popular three track storm windows.
The picture to the left shows the redesigned Snowbird
window. Trapp has taken many of the same features used in
replacement windows and incorporated them into their storm
window. After all not ever house needs their windows
replaced.
Features
Starting with the main frame, Trapp has retained a
strong aluminum frame. Many companies have reduced the
aluminum and then needed to add a center bar to the window
because it is not strong enough to support itself. Next
Trapp has welded corners (A) on the main frame
so the corners don’t separate. Interlocking meeting
rails (B) keep the cold air from blowing around the
upper and lower glass panels at the middle. The bottom glass
panel slides down into a weather-stripped pocket (C)
for a great seal at the bottom. Anti-blow pins (D)
keep the lower glass panel’s weather-stripping firmly
pressed against the main frame for a better seal against the
wind. The top of the upper glass panel slides into a
u-channel (E) to make a very effective seal against
winter’s winds. Fin seal weather-stripping (F)
like that used on replacement windows is standard on the
Snowbird storm window.
